-The
Leadership Coaching Cycle
The weekly pace of life dictating your client's executive life and routine doesn't
have to define their coaching/training, too. Train in
"cycles" and they'll have more time, more fun—and they
will get there faster.
It's simple
and logical. Once they start, and see how much better they
can perform—and how much better they feel—they'll never
turn back.
It's called
coaching in cycles. This approach is workout-based, not
week-based, so it's much more flexible and customizable than what
they're probably used to. All they have to do is select
with you (their coach) the key WorkOut Leadership Programs that
will assist them to meet their performance goals -then spread
those workouts over a say; 1 month or 3 month cycle.
The increased
performance 'fitness' level will naturally come because their
coaching is in balance, with just the right mix of hard
work days interpersed with invigorating WorkOuts. This
provides them: the ability to make changes as their
busy life dictates; the time they will need to
apply the learnt skills and, time to use the renewed
energy boost and still be fresh on those hard working days.
"Cycle
coaching gives you the ability to coach for both mental
strength and endurance," says Dr Skiffington. "Plus,
it's a stress eliminator and generates confidence and peace
of mind."
Note: The
WorkOut Leadership Programs can be used as 'stand-alone'
leadership coaching
program or as part of a wider professional development program.
Here's a
10-point plan for building a Mind WorkOut Leadership Coaching
Program.
1.
Plan Ahead -A) discuss with the leader where they're
currently headed and where they really want to be. B)
Decide on Cycle Length -most coaches recommend cycles of
21 days, but your client can make it 18 days, or whatever they're comfortable with.
2.
Determine Personal/Performance Goal/s -assess with
the leader which personal skills will be worked upon
3.
Determine Time Goal -this will help dictate the
pace and regularity of your WorkOut sessions.
4.
Establish some Coaching ROI benchmarks -of current performance
levels and a means to collect and quantify results/evidence of
beneficial outcomes
5.
Complete Foundational Workouts -the foundational workouts
enhance key thinking skills and other mental skill areas.
6.
Select Key Personal Skill Workouts -key workouts are those
personal skills chosen to be strengthened.
7.
Include a Good Mix -the coaching should include: repeat
participation in the Foundational WorkOuts to continue to
build up their mental skills base that can be applied to
the execution of the enhanced Personal Skills worked on in Level One
Programs.
8.
Schedule Coaching Workouts -the sequence of their key
WorkOuts is completely up to them and you, and eventually both
of you will find out what works best.
9.
Monitoring and Feedback -follow-up their performance
results with you
10. Build
From Coaching Cycle to Cycle -adjust their key workouts as they
progress through and complete each selected cycle. Provide 'booster
sessions' -repeat any specific WorkOuts when necessary
